Try a salad garden in a balcony box. Center it with onions,
surrounded with leaf lettuce and edged with radishes. Plant an herb
garden in a large container near the kitchen door for instant flavoring.
Try basil in the center, surrounded by sage, french tarragon, rosemary,
or other personal favorites.

Several containers grouped together will be more effective than one lone pot. 4.) Always use plants of varying heights to create a sense of movement. Stagger plants, especially in window boxes, for a more natural look. 5.) Try to keep plants in scale with the container. For window boxes, keep plants in scale with the window or other surroundings. 6.) Consider using a focal point, such as a small evergreen, in a pot surrounding it with colorful accents. 7.) Remember, the elements are definitely harsher on container plantings but an the flip side, you do have more control over the soil, water, food, and placement regarding sun, shade, and wind. |
